I don't want
To wake up.
I want to
Fall back
Into a
Comatose state,
Letting my body
Melt into a
State of complete
Relaxation.
I don't want
To wake up.
I want to
Remain in
A dream world
Full of flying
Whales and
Barking cats,
Where days
Are called nights
And nights are
Called nothing
At all.
I don't want
To wake up.
I don't want
To face the
Monsters in
Human form
Who's candy words
Taste bitter from
The poison they
Tried so hard
To mask.
I don't want
To wake up,
But I do
Because I have
No choice in
The matter really.
By waking up,
I can make
My dreams
My reality.
So I crawl out
Of bed, clothe
Myself in a
Sunny disposition
And I face the world.
I wake up.

Sooooooooooo love this! How did you know that's how I felt today?
Now get outta my head :)
This is one of the first things i read when i woke this morning... exactly how i feel right now... and i mean.. EXACTLY!
I don't want/To face the/Monsters in
Human form/Who's candy words/Taste bitter from/The poison they/Tried so hard/To mask.
Ah yes, we basically have to wake up, don't we and leave our dreams that we enjoyed so much? But we have choices in our wakeful state as well. If our dreams were good ones, we CAN work to make them come true. I enjoyed, as always, your contribution to Poetry Pantry.
Where can I find one of those sunny dispositions?
I could identify totally. Thank you.
Rather depressing for me as I have to go to work tomorrow and have my naturally sunny disposition stripped from me.
have we all shared this experience or what?!
Well done. I can really relate!
I feel like this every morning! Great poetry :)
this is how i feel every morning too, knowing i have to clock some hours in the office. :)
I have lived in that part of town. It was perfectly dreadful. Getting up helped indeed. Being able to say "At least I got up" made me feel better than worst. I haven't been for a long while, thank God. However, David Letterman echoed the exact sentiment while conversing with Oprah on her show last evening.
Your words the emotions thoroughly.
Write On!
Ah so true..:-)
